Difference between examination and evaluation


DIFFERENCE BETWEEN EXAMINATION AND EVALUATION

Examination
  • It is an old traditional concept.
  • It covers only one domain cognitive.
  • It is not helpful in the improvement of curriculum.
  • It is different from teaching learning process.
  • It is less reliable and valid in comparison to evaluation
  • It can give only quantitative information's about the students. 
  • It refers to performance, results of the children. 
  • It develops the factual attainment of the students.
  • It denotes to mostly external performance of children
  • Examination centered knowledge helps the students to pass the examinations only due to learning through cramming style 
Evaluation
  • It is modern wider concept.
  • It covers all three domains- cognitive, affective and psycho motor.
  • It is helpful in the improvement of curriculum.
  • It is a continuous process.
  • It is more reliable and valid in comparison to examination.
  • It can give both qualitative and quantitative information about the student.
  • It refers to the harmonious development of the children.
  • It develops learner's insight about the material being taught to them.
  • It denotes to the mostly internal development of the children.
  • Evaluation centered knowledge has much utility in practical life.

DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

Aims
  • Aims are very broad in nature.
  • Aims are very close to those ideals which are not fully attainable. 
  • Nation, Society and Schools are fully responsible for attaining the aims.
  • Aims cannot be evaluated easily.
  • Long time duration is needed to attain the aims.
  • Aims cover the whole educational system and whole curriculum.
  • Aims include objectives.
  • Aims try to answer the question of why a subject is taught.

Objectives
  • Objectives are very narrow in nature.
  • Objective are fully attainable.
  • Mostly the teacher is responsible for attaining of objective.
  • Objectives can be evaluated after the end of one period.
  • Short time duration (usually 45 minutes) is needed to attained the objectives. 
  • Objectives cover a particulars topic to be taught in the classroom.
  • Objectives are the part of aims.
  • Objectives try to answer the question of what will be the achievement after teaching a topic in a period of class.

  • To prepare the child for technical profession such as commerce teacher, bankers, cashier,accountant etc.
